Description
I – JOURNEY
Dans un grand ciel Triste et mauve La terre s’éveille Et marche le long des eaux Et la terre et le ciel s’envolent en soupirant par dessus les blés dansants A la tombée du jour La nuit les prend Dans sa chaumière Comme deux vagabonds.
In a big sky sad and purple the earth is awakening And walks along the waters And earth and sky fly away sighing over the dancing wheat At nightfall The night takes them In its cottage Like two vagabonds.
II – Quatre cavaliers
Quatre cavaliers galopent dans la nuit brune,
Ils chaussent des étriers de lune,
Leurs selles sont des montagnes et leurs rennes comme des fleuves
Qui sont-ils? Où vont-ils? Le sais-tu…?
Le jour vient et toujours au loin ils galopent,
Transportant dans leurs yeux tous les paysages de la terre!
J’entends le bruit de leurs chevaux qui dit que, qui dit que…
Là-bas, il fait bon vivre!
Alors, toujours plus avant, ils filent
Plus vite que le jour, plus loin que la nuit
Et ce soir, où demeurent-ils?
Le tonnerre de leurs chevaux s’est arrêté
Est-ce qu’ils ont trouvé la paix?
Est-ce qu’ils ont trouvé ce pays
Qui claquait sous leurs sabots?
Four horsemen gallop in the dark night,
They put on stirrups of moonlight,
Their saddles are mountains and their reindeer like rivers
Who are they? Where are they going? Do you know…?
The day comes and always far away they gallop,
Carrying in their eyes all the landscapes of the earth!
I hear the noise of their horses which says that, which says that…
Over there, life is good!
So, always forward, they run
Faster than the day, further than the night
And tonight, where do they live?
The thunder of their horses has stopped
Have they found peace?
Have they found this country
Which clattered under their hooves?
III – La montagne cachée
behind its great frosty eyes,
descends to the sea…
By the path of your gaze,
O evaporating summer,
of which no one now thinks!
The hill weeps,
which has not been able to hold back,
in its tangled tresses…
The so light step of your songs.
Leaping at the bend of the path!
Here you are, O beautiful summer!
May no one die now…
Avec sur ses lèvres une chanson si blanche…

Et que nos rires se perdent!
Ô le ciel viendra tout-à-l’heure ma mie
Nous remplir les yeux d’encre.
