Schubert An die Musik – S(solo ad lib.)ATB a cappella
an homage to the unique music of Franz Schubert !

The original is in D flat that could be too low for choir voices so I opted for E flat
duration: around 4’25
I wrote this arrangement because I thought everyone in a choir would enjoy singing this text.
I usually doubled the piano bases an octave lower to add depth to it relative to the volume of the choir.

Beloved art, in how many a bleak hour,
when I am enmeshed in life’s tumultuous round,
have you kindled my heart to the warmth of love,
and borne me away to a better world!
Often a sigh, escaping from your harp,
a sweet, celestial chord
has revealed to me a heaven of happier times.

Art bien-aimé, dans combien d’heures sombres,
lorsque j’étais empêtré dans le tourbillon tumultueux de la vie,
as-tu embrasé mon cœur à la chaleur de l’amour,
et m’as-tu transporté vers un monde meilleur !
Souvent, un soupir, s’échappant de ta harpe,
un accord doux et céleste,
m’a révélé un paradis de temps plus heureux.
